Pantnagar plant begins production to meet additional demand

Bajaj XCD 135 DTS-Si, launched in the January end this year has received an excellent response from customers. The sales to dealers commenced in February and 10,000 numbers was crossed on the 16th of the month itself. To meet this increasing demand the Pantnagar plant has also commenced production of the XCD 135 DTS-Si.

The company is also extensively promoting the bike on air with an exciting new commercial featuring two sisters fighting for the one pillion seat on sporty XCD 135. With this highly visible campaign and the nation-wide availability of the bike, the company expects to sell 20,000 bikes in the month of February. This will make XCD 135 the 2nd largest in the 125cc+ category, which is next only to the Pulsar.

First Schengen Visa Application Center in Western India Visa applicants can now apply for visas to 6 Schengen States through SVAC

VFS Global – the largest Consular Services Facilitation Company in the world, today, unveiled a unique concept of Joint Visa Application Centre for the Schengen countries. The Schengen Visa Application Centre (SVAC) was inaugurated by the officials from the Consulates of Switzerland, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The SVAC – another successful innovation from VFS Global has evolved as an extension to the Schengen co-operation, which involves the co-operation of 25 European countries. VFS Global has successfully implemented the SVAC model in other geographical regions, which include the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

This SVAC will process visa applications for six Schengen countries, which include Switzerland, Italy, France, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The centrally located SVAC aims to provide a convenient one-stop-shop to the visa applicants traveling to any of these six Schengen countries.

New Jobs in Chennai on a decline: Naukri JobSpeak

Highlights for the month
• Chennai continued to see a decline in new jobs in Jan 2009, the index went down by 3% to hit a low of 625, as compared to Dec-08
• The Overall Job Index inched up from 697 in December 2008 to 738 in January 2009, an increase of 5% in new jobs

According to Naukri JobSpeak, the monthly job index released by Naukri.com, Chennai continued to see a decline in new jobs in Jan 2009, the index went down by 3% to hit a low of 625. The job index of Chennai declined by 3% to hit a low of 625 in Jan-09 as compared to 646 in Dec-08. Overall, this implies 37.5% decline in new jobs in Chennai since Jul-08.

Prominent industries in Chennai include IT, ITeS, Auto, and Banking. There has been volatility in indices for these industries at a National level.

SKS Microfinance lines up 200 Crores securitization deal with ICICI

iPhone did genuinely good for Apple. After mac books and ipods, this was yet another marvel from Apple that laid a mark on the industry as a whole. No doubt, Apple made money and is making money from iPhones, the industry owes a lot to the phone as well.

iPhone gave the mobile industry the ‘touch’ experience that could never make a remarkable entry in to the industry before. Although there were some handsets – particularly PDAs that offered touch screen interface, they never became so popular that people really got crazy after them. In the grey market, where iPhone was not introduced officially people paid every around $100 for cracking the lock to use this device over unauthorized networks.

Operators also tried striking deals with Apple to offer iPhone to their subscribers. Still, there are operators trying to get iPhone over their networks.
